Pretty Summer Porch Essentials from Walmart
There’s something about a pretty porch that makes the whole summer feel slower.
I don’t know how to explain it exactly, but when a porch or patio is set up — a few good pillows, a planter or two, something to drink in the shade — it changes how the whole day feels. You’re more likely to step outside. More likely to sit for a few minutes. More likely to just be somewhere instead of rushing through it.
That’s the kind of summer I want. And honestly? It doesn’t take much.

I’ve been looking at pretty summer porch finds this season from Walmart, and y’all — the quality is so much better than you’d expect, especially from the My Texas House line. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at every turn. I wanted to round it all up here in case you’re still working on your outdoor space and want some ideas that won’t break the budget.

#1 Planters that actually look good
This Texas House 8″ Wave Terracotta Ceramic Planter and the Shell Planter in cream, and both are so pretty in person. The terracotta has that warm, earthy look I love, and the shell shape on the cream one has a classic quality to it. These are the kind of planters that make you want to actually keep something alive in them. (I’m working on it, y’all.)
You’ll also love the 16″ Brown Woven Resin Urn Planter for a bigger statement piece, and it looks far more expensive than it is. Works beautifully flanking a front door or tucked into a corner of the porch.
#2 Pillows that pull everything together
The Tan Floral Scallop pillow from My Texas House is so pretty — that scallop edge gives it a little something extra without being fussy. And the Blue Cabana stripe is a classic for a reason. It goes with everything.
I also linked the Blue Gingham Pillow Covers (a two-pack!) because gingham is always right in summer, and these are faux linen which means they hold up beautifully outdoors.
#3 Shade and seating
The My Texas House 9ft Outdoor Market Umbrella in off-white with black trim is exactly what a summer porch needs. Classic. Clean. Not trying too hard. And the Better Homes & Gardens Bellamy Outdoor Sofa in tan wicker with a cream cushion is one of those pieces that just looks like it belongs on a porch. I love how timeless it is.

#4 The little things that make it feel special
This is where I always say the magic is. The two Rattan Lanterns from My Texas House (one 12″ and one 14.75″) are absolutely beautiful. Lanterns are one of my favorite ways to add warmth to an outdoor space without a lot of effort — just add a candle or a battery-operated light and you’re done.
The Better Homes & Gardens Rattan Tray is perfect for corralling things on a side table — a candle, a stack of books, a glass of lemonade.
And for evenings? The Monster Smart String Lights are dimmable and sound reactive, which is fun, but I’m mostly just in it for the warm glow they put off. String lights are one of those things I think every porch needs by July.
#5 A little patriotic charm
Since we’re right in the heart of summer, I had to include the Patriotic Door Hanger Basket Wreath — it’s such a sweet touch for the front door right now and celebrates the 250th anniversary which feels special.

I’ll have everything linked through my LTK so it’s easy to find — just head to the link in my bio or search melissa.ringstaff on the LTK app.
Here’s what I always come back to when I’m setting up a space outside: you don’t need a lot. A comfortable seat, a little shade, something growing, and a few pretty things that make you want to linger. That’s a porch worth sitting on.
See the whole list in my LTK shop.
Sweet friend, your outdoor space is an extension of your home — and it’s worth tending just like the rest of it.
