Simple Summer Bucket List for July + Free Printable

Looking for simple ways to savor the season and add a little joy to your homemaking this summer? This July bucket list is filled with easy, meaningful ideas to help you slow down and make sweet memories at home.

July is one of those months that invites us to slow down and soak in the season. The days are long, the garden is buzzing, and there’s beauty to be found in the everyday moments—if we pause long enough to notice.

Whether you’re knee-deep in laundry or enjoying a quiet afternoon on the porch, there’s something comforting about the daily routines of home. This July Bucket List for Homemakers was created to help you create special moments at home this summer—enjoy simple pleasures, create meaningful memories, and bring a little seasonal joy into your homemaking.

There’s something special about July, isn’t there? The sun lingers a little longer in the evenings, the garden is starting to show off, and everything feels just a bit more relaxed. It’s the time of year when we crave simple pleasures—bare feet in the grass, dinner on the porch, and the sound of crickets at dusk.

One of my goals for this year is to spend 1000 hours outside and I’m currently at about 340 hours outside. I’m not half way there yet – so I’m going to have to some camping trips to catch up! Being outside helps me to feel relaxed, grounded, and happier. But that doesn’t mean my days aren’t busy.

If you’re like me, you love the idea of slowing down… but sometimes the days still blur together. I feel like as soon as I think things will slow down, they speed back up.

That’s why I created a July Bucket List just for you— it’s a sweet little reminder to step outside, savor the season, and create beauty at home. I’m a big believer in being intentional about making time for joy and simple pleasures.

Simple Summer Bucket List for July

On this bucket list, you’ll find a collection of small, doable delights to add meaning to your everyday. Whether you’re caring for a busy family or enjoying the quiet of a slower season, I hope this list gives you some inspiration to make the most of these summer days. Here’s what’s on the list:

#1 Go on a Picnic

It doesn’t have to be fancy—just a blanket, some sandwiches, and maybe a jar of lemonade. Head to the backyard or your favorite shady spot at the park and enjoy a slow lunch under the sky.

#2 Take a “Day in the Life” Photo Series

Document the ordinary. Your morning coffee, your kids reading on the floor, the laundry on the line—capture what your life looks like right now. One day, you’ll be glad you did.

#3 Host “Sunday Supper” Outdoors

Set the table on the porch or patio. Use real dishes. Light a candle. Invite someone over—or just make it special for your family. A little effort goes a long way.

#4 Hang a Wind Chime or Porch Flag

Add a touch of charm to your front porch. It’s a simple act, but it brings joy every time you walk outside.

#5 Write and Mail a Letter to Someone You Love

There’s something sacred about putting pen to paper. Take a few quiet minutes and send some kind words to a friend, your grandma, or someone you haven’t talked to in a while.

related: This story of writing letters as a ministry really touched my heart.

#6 Hang a New Summer Wreath

Welcome the season—and your guests—with something cheerful on your front door. It sets the tone before anyone even walks inside.

#7 Listen to a Podcast While Doing Your Chores

Folding laundry or wiping down the counters? Turn on something uplifting or inspiring while you work. It makes the time go by a little quicker.

#8 Enjoy a Backyard Campfire

Whether it’s s’mores with the kids or just you and your husband watching the flames flicker, a campfire has a way of slowing time and sparking conversation.

#9 Preserve the Harvest and Try Canning Jellies and Jams

There’s something deeply satisfying about filling your shelves with jars of summer. Even if you only make one batch—give it a try!

#10 Work on a Simple Handcraft

Pick up that embroidery project, finish the dishcloth you started, or try something new. Handwork brings peace and gives your hands something purposeful to do. Country Living Magazine has free cross-stitch patterns!

#11 Make a Homemade Pie or Cobbler

Use fresh berries or ripe peaches and make something sweet from scratch. There’s nothing quite like the smell of a bubbling cobbler coming out of the oven. This easy recipe for Blackberry Cobbler was given to my mother years ago, when I was just a girl by a neighbor lady where I grew up in Meriwether County, Georgia.

#12 Visit a Farmers’ Market or U-Pick Farm

Support your local farmers, breathe in the scent of sun-warmed produce, and maybe bring home a basket of something fresh to inspire your next meal. One of my favorite memories from last summer is going to the u-pick farm near my mom and dad’s house in Georgia. My kids came down and we all went peach picking!

I hope you enjoy these ideas and that you’ll find peace and happiness in your family and home this summer. Print the list, hang it on your fridge, and check things off as the month goes on. And remember—this isn’t about doing it all. Pick a few that speak to you. Let them be a gentle invitation to slow down, be present, and celebrate the small joys of homemaking.
