Today I’m talking about how to create a routine that brings peace and purpose to your mornings, with adaptable tips to fit your unique lifestyle. So, grab a warm drink, settle in, and let’s dive into creating mornings that bring you joy and strength, no matter what the day holds.

Creating a Simple Morning Routine

This Simple Morning Routine is designed to help you focus on what matters most, one small, step at a time. By incorporating prayer with practical homemaking tasks, and moments for self-care, this routine aims to get you off to a good start for the day as well as make your home feel warm and welcoming.

Why Your Morning Routine Matters

Creating a morning routine isn’t about rigid schedules or checking off endless tasks off your to do list. Instead, it’s a way to set your heart and mind in the right direction.

As homemakers, we pour so much into the lives of others — our families, our communities — and this routine allows us to pour into ourselves first, so we can give from a place of abundance. Mornings are a powerful time for this because they set the stage for how we approach the day.

Key Steps in this Simple Morning Routine

  1. Begin with Prayer and Bible Study
Start your day by grounding yourself spiritually. Spending 30 minutes in prayer and Bible study will help you focus on what truly matters and center your mind on grace, strength, and gratitude. I guarantee that after even a few minutes in prayer and devotion you’ll feel more patience and more peace throughout the day to come.
  2. Start a Load of Laundry
By starting a small household task like laundry first thing in the morning, you’re setting a productive tone. Plus, tackling laundry a little each day keeps the piles from becoming overwhelming. This is a chore that will really make a difference without taking much effort!
  3. Take Time for Movement
Whether it’s a quick walk, stretching, or gentle exercise, spending just 15 minutes moving your body boosts your energy, clears your mind, and helps you feel refreshed. When my kids were young, I often did this early in the morning before my husband left for the day. Figure out what works for you and make sure you spend a few minutes moving.
  4. Check Your Planner or Homemaking Binder
Spend a few moments reviewing your plans for the day, meals, and any tasks you want to accomplish. This step will give you clarity and help you prioritize. You can download my free printable Homemaking Binder each month here.
  5. Share Breakfast Together
Preparing and sharing a meal with your family is a small but meaningful way to start the day. It’s an opportunity to connect, talk about the day ahead, and, if you choose, share a short devotion. I love starting the day this way when my kids were young!
  6. Tidy Up
Tidying the kitchen, making beds, and picking up stray clutter allows you to move into the day with a clean slate. It’s a gift to your future self and your family, creating a space that feels open and ready.
