Everyday Style: Outfit of the Day
Today’s outfit inspiration is all about blending comfort with style, perfect for busy homemakers who want to look put-together while managing daily tasks.
Okay ladies, I know there’s controversy over whether we should wear leggings out, but I think if you do it right, they don’t have to look frumpy. Having said that, I don’t think leggings and athletic leisurewear are a good choice for every outing. You want to dress for the occasion!
But as far as comfort goes, I do like wearing leggings – especially when I am at home. And of course, when I’m out for a walk or run, they make perfect sense.
Leggings have come a long way from being just lounge or gym wear—they’re now a versatile piece that can look polished and intentional with the right styling. With high-quality fabrics and well-made designs like these Aerie Offline Leggings, you can enjoy the comfort of leggings without the worry of looking unkempt or underdressed. I really love the fact that there are no seams on the sides of the legs.
My daughter Laura came home wearing leggings a couple weeks ago and they looked so high end, I asked here where they were from. She said Aerie – and the next time I was in town, I couldn’t help but try some on! I immediately fell in love.
The high-waisted fit, sleek material, and thoughtful details add structure to your outfit, keeping things looking tidy and pulled together. Pairing them with a cozy cropped sweater or a long cardigan elevates the look, proving that leggings can be just as stylish and presentable as any other piece in your wardrobe.
So the other day on my way home from the weekend in Chattanooga, Tennessee, I bought this cozy, fall-ready outfit from Aerie’s. I got their Offline Leggings and this red, cropped sweater.
In the picture, I’m wearing my old Adidas but I would totally pair this with versatile HOKA Women’s Transport Shoes – My daughter Laura has been trying to convince me to buy a pair of HOKA’s and I’m seriously considering it!
Whether you’re tackling household projects, making a grocery run, or just enjoying a peaceful morning with coffee at home, this outfit is perfect for all-day wear.
For reference, I’ll be 49 years old (this weekend haha), 5’6″ tall, and wear a 4-6 in pants. I’m wearing a small in both the leggings and sweater.
Why I Love This Easy Outfit
#1 Ultimate Comfort: The Aerie Offline Leggings are incredibly soft with a high-waisted fit that feels secure yet flexible. They are a fantastic choice for anyone who loves leggings that move with you—great for those moments when you’re bending down to pick up after little ones or rearranging things around the house.
I personally will only buy high-wasted leggings (and pants for that matter) as I find they are more comfortable and figure flattering.
#2 Warmth with Style: The cropped sweater from Aerie adds a stylish layer of warmth, making it a cozy pick for cooler days. I love how it pairs with the high-waisted leggings, offering a comfortable, flattering silhouette without any fuss. Plus, it’s easy to layer with a scarf or jacket if you need to head outdoors.
#2 Practical Footwear: HOKA’s Women’s Transport Shoes add a finishing touch with both comfort and support. Perfect if you spend a lot of time on your feet, these shoes provide a cushioned sole, making them ideal for busy days around the house or quick errands. And, since they’re neutral, they go well with a variety of casual outfits. My daughter, Laura, loves her Hoka’s and she has multiple pairs. Maybe I’ll get a pair for Christmas!
Style Tips
If you’re looking to elevate this look for a quick coffee date or a visit to the farmer’s market, add a few simple accessories like gold hoops, a cozy scarf, or a warm knit hat. This outfit truly embraces the “cozy, yet presentable” vibe, which can be ideal for homemakers who enjoy staying comfortable while also being ready to step out.
