The Home Reset – 14 Day Challenge: Free to Join!

January always feels like it could be a fresh start… and at the same time, it’s the month when you look around and think, “Where do I even begin?”

If your house feels a little out of control or overwhelming right now — piles on the counter, paper stacking up, a chair that’s holding half your life — I want you to hear this:

You don’t need to reset your whole house. You need one small win at a time.

That’s exactly why I’m hosting a simple challenge inside my free Facebook group, The Ministry of Homemaking.

The Free 14-Day Home Reset Challenge

I’m hosting a free, simple challenge inside my Facebook group, The Ministry of Homemaking, and it’s built for real life.

This isn’t one of those “declutter your whole house in a weekend” kind of things. (Because who has time for that? And also… no thank you.)

This is one small, finishable step each day — and everything stays focused on your chosen Reset Zone.

So instead of bouncing from the kitchen to the living room to the closets to the garage and feeling even more overwhelmed… we’re going to pick one spot and give it some steady attention.

Here’s how it works

Step one: Pick your Reset Zone.
Choose the one area that’s bothering you the most right now — the one that makes you sigh when you walk by it.

It could be:

  • the kitchen/pantry
  • a paper pile
  • a closet (winter clothes, anyone?)
  • the dining room drop zone
  • the living room
  • kids’ stuff
  • a spare room
  • moving boxes
  • Christmas put-away
  • even the yard

Then for 14 days, you’re going to do one small step a day — in that same area.

And yes… you can do this even if your whole house is a mess.
Most of us are not working with a perfectly tidy home. We’re doing the best we can.

The 14-Day Challenge List (Zone-Focused)

Here’s the full plan so you can see how simple it is:

Day 1 — Pick Your Reset Zone

Write it down and spend 5 minutes clearing obvious trash.

Day 2 — Clear One Surface

In your Reset Zone, clear one surface and wipe it.

Day 3 — The Keep Basket

Put one basket in your Reset Zone. Anything that belongs elsewhere goes in the basket.
Later: do a quick 5-minute put-away.

Day 4 — One Bag or One Pile

Fill one bag (donate/trash/laundry/put-away) or gather one small pile into one spot.

Day 5 — Tiny Sort Session

Set a 10-minute timer and make 3 piles:
Keep here / Put away elsewhere / Donate-trash.

Day 6 — Clear the Floor Path

Clear one walkway or usable area in your Reset Zone.

Day 7 — The “One Container” Win

Fill one container (bag/basket/box) with donate OR trash OR put-away items.

Day 8 — Clear One Corner

Pick one corner and do only: trash, obvious donations, and “belongs elsewhere” into the Keep Basket.
Stop after 15 minutes.

Day 9 — Make a “Home” for One Type of Item

Choose one repeat offender (mail, shoes, toys, coats, cords…) and give it a simple home.

Day 10 — The 10-Item Decision

Choose 10 items and decide: keep/put away, donate, or trash.

Day 11 — Reset One Surface Again

Clear and wipe one surface again (this is the habit that keeps things from sliding back).

Day 12 — Take Out What Doesn’t Belong

10 minutes: anything that belongs elsewhere goes in the Keep Basket.
Later: 5-minute put-away.

Day 13 — Choose Your Zone Anchor

Pick one weekly habit for this area (your “anchor”) so it doesn’t fall apart again.

Day 14 — Your Keep-Going Plan

Choose your 3 repeats for next week:
10-minute daily reset / Keep Basket + 5-minute put-away / your Zone Anchor.

That’s the whole challenge.

Not dramatic. Not complicated. Just steady.

Why this works (and why it won’t burn you out)

Most of us don’t need a brand new personality. You just need a plan that fits YOUR real life.

This challenge is designed to:

  • give you quick wins that actually matter
  • help you practice finishing
  • reduce the mental load of “what should I do next?”
  • and build a simple rhythm you can repeat

Because motivation comes and goes… but small habits add up.

How to Join the Free Challenge

The challenge is happening inside my free Facebook group: The Ministry of Homemaking

Come join us and look for Day 0.
You’ll comment: “I’m in — my zone is ____.” and we’ll start together.

P.S. If you aren’t a member of the group yet, go ahead a request to join! I’ll get you accepted and then you can go to this post to start!

Want deeper support? The 28-Day Challenge starts February 1

If you love the free 14 days but you know you need more structure — more guidance, more accountability, more “tell me what to do next” support — then you’ll probably love what we’re doing next.

On February 1st, we’re starting a 28-day challenge inside The Homemaker’s Society (my paid membership).

The free challenge is the gentle start.
The member challenge is where we go deeper — with a steadier plan and more support built in.

How to become a member of The Homemaker’s Society

To join The Homemaker’s Society, just click here. Once you’re a member, you’ll be able to participate in the February 28-day challenge right inside the community. I can’t wait to see you inside!

If your home feels overwhelming right now, please don’t wait until you “have more time” or “get caught up.” Start with one area and one small win. And come do it with us! I’ll be right there with you. 💛
