The Monthly Tending List | Free Tending List Printable
As homemakers, there’s always so much to keep track of—it’s easy for important tasks to slip through the cracks if we’re not careful! That’s why I’m such a fan of lists. Writing things down makes it so much easier to stay organized and on top of all the details. Today, I’m excited to share the Monthly Tending List with you and explain how it can simplify your homemaking and help you focus on what truly matters.

One of the things I frequently tell my girls is, “Write it down.”
I’m a firm believer in the power of lists. Writing things down helps us commit them to memory. That’s why Scripture writing is such an effective way to remember Bible verses. And obviously, when we make a list or jot down important things we need to remember, it’s just easier to recall them because they’re written down.
Making a list of things to remember also means all that information doesn’t have to stay in your brain. Some folks like to call this a “brain dump.”
Whatever you like to call it, having a good to do list is a great way to plan and execute your goals. That’s where the monthly tending list comes in. I first came across this idea on the site, Cultivate What Matters. But then I came across it again from this sweet gal I follow on Instagram: The Mom Manual. I thought having a monthly tending list was just a great idea!
That’s when I really started thinking about creating an oh so practical, monthly tending list printable that I could share with you!
My version is quite different from the one you’ll find at Cultivate What Matters. I had some unique ideas on how to make it more versatile and wanted to include all those features in a single printable designed just for you.
Think about it: In the midst of busy schedules and endless to-do lists, it’s easy to lose focus on the tasks and goals that matter most. The Monthly Tending List is a simple yet powerful tool to help you prioritize, organize, and nurture what’s most important in your life. It’s a way of remembering to tend to those things that come around each month that need looking after.
Whether you’re managing a household, pursuing personal growth, or trying to balance it all, this simple worksheet is designed to bring clarity and focus to your month.
The Monthly Tending List: How It Works
The Monthly Tending List is divided into four key sections, each with a specific purpose to guide your planning and help you stay on track:
1. Top Three Priorities
Start by identifying your top three priorities for the month. These are the goals or tasks that will have the biggest impact on your life, home, or personal growth. By narrowing your focus to just three, you can channel your energy where it matters most and avoid feeling overwhelmed by endless possibilities.
2. Tending Tasks for the Month
Think of this section as your “maintenance checklist” for life. These are the routine but essential tasks that keep your household and life running smoothly. Examples might include:
- Giving your pets their monthly medications.
- Changing the furnace filters.
- Checking fire alarm batteries.
- Scheduling household maintenance.
- Reviewing upcoming events and anniversaries on your calendar.
- Reassessing your budget for the month.
This list ensures you don’t overlook those recurring responsibilities that often slip through the cracks.
3. Personal Goals
This section is all about you. Write down your personal aspirations for the month—goals that bring joy, growth, or balance to your life. Maybe you want to spend more quality time with your loved ones, start a new fitness routine, or develop a better habit like journaling or daily gratitude.
These goals remind you to pour into yourself so you can give your best to others.
4. Weekly Action Items
Big goals can feel overwhelming, but breaking them into smaller weekly steps makes them more manageable. Use this section to outline what you can do each week to move closer to your personal goals. For instance, if your goal is to exercise regularly, your weekly action might be as simple as scheduling three 20-minute walks.
By focusing on actionable steps, you’ll build momentum and see real progress throughout the month.
