3-Day, Mini Spring Cleaning Routine: Quick Refresh for Your Home

Spring is in the air, and if your home is feeling a little stale after winter, this Mini Spring Cleaning Routine will give it a quick and refreshing reset—without the overwhelm!

Spring is the perfect time to give your home a little refresh — but that doesn’t mean you have to deep clean every nook and cranny. If the thought of a week-long cleaning marathon makes you want to hide under a blanket, you’re not alone. That’s why I love a 3-Day, Mini Spring Cleaning Routine — quick, effective, and done in just a few days.

We all know the classic spring cleaning lists — wash the windows, scrub the walls, empty every drawer. While that kind of deep clean has its place, it’s not always realistic for busy homemakers or homemakers who work outside the house full time or even part time.

Life doesn’t pause just because the seasons change. A mini routine lets you focus on the areas that make the biggest difference, so your home feels fresh without the overwhelm.

Think of it as a seasonal reset — a way to clear out the stale air, wipe away the winter blues, and make your home feel lighter and brighter in just a few focused sessions. This is what I’m doing this week! I started on Sunday and I’m working through areas of my house and freshening each space.

A 3-Day, Mini Spring Cleaning Routine

Here’s how to freshen up your home for spring without overcomplicating the process. If you need any new cleaning supplies I have a list of some good products here:

Day 1: Quick Declutter & Dust Refresh

Start by clearing the obvious clutter. Walk through your house with a laundry basket or tote and collect anything that doesn’t belong — trash, random papers, out-of-place toys, or things you meant to donate ages ago. Put those things away and you’re off to a good start!

Once the clutter is out of the way, grab your favorite all-purpose cleaner and:

  • Wipe down tables, counters, shelves, and any other surfaces.
  • Dust light fixtures, ceiling fans, and baseboards.
  • Open a few windows if the weather’s nice to bring in some fresh air.

This step alone can make your home feel so much fresher! For me, my house gets really dusty over the winter. I try to stay on top of it, but it just seems like every spring there’s a build up of dust on the baseboards, dust on the door panels, dust, dust, dust!

Part of this is probably because I have a large breed dog (Irish Setter) and she loves to bring in extra dust, haha. But whatever the reason, the dust needs to be cleaned. She’s worth the extra effort!

Day 2: Kitchen & Bathroom Reset

The kitchen and bathrooms get the most daily use, so they deserve a little extra love. Here’s what to focus on:

  • Fridge Refresh: Toss anything expired, wipe down shelves, and reorganize if needed.
  • Cabinet Clean-Up: Wipe fingerprints and grime off kitchen cabinets and appliance fronts.
  • Bathrooms: Clean sinks, faucets, and mirrors. Evaluate what needs to be replaced or refreshed i.e. shower curtain, rugs, etc.
  • Swap out hand towels for something clean and spring-ready (even a fresh color can make a difference).

This is also a good time to restock any supplies you’re running low on — dish soap, hand soap, paper towels, etc. If you are a Walmart Plus Member (we love our membership) you can have these items delivered to your house for free!

Day 3: Floors & Fabrics

Now for the finishing touches that make your whole house feel cleaner.

  • Wash any throw pillows or blankets you use often. I like to also wash all of the bed linens and quilts I have on the back of my couches, etc.
  • Shake out rugs and vacuum floors (don’t forget under furniture if you’re feeling extra motivated – I wasn’t lol).
  • Mop hard floors.
  • Bonus: If you have time, vacuum your mattress and give it a flip or rotate.

Optional Spring Touch

If you want to welcome spring with a little extra charm, add something seasonal:

  • A small vase of fresh flowers on the table
  • A new candle in a light, fresh scent
  • A diffuser blend with citrus or lavender

And that’s all! Your house is spring refreshed without the overwhelm. If you want to take it further, you can always deep clean one space a week throughout the season, but this Mini Spring Cleaning Routine is the perfect reset to get you started.
